24 Nov RE-INVENT, RE-NEW, RE-MAKE AND RE-DO
Re-invent is definitely going to be the new word of 2016 if you ask me, just look around you and you’ll find it everywhere. Maybe it is driving by our previous economic crisis, maybe by wanting to feel green or maybe we are just in a philosophical mood asking ourself why a chair is a chair and a tree a tree…
We’ve started defining things differently, searching for underlying meanings, looking for more convenient and efficient ways of using products. MAHABIS caught up on this attitude perfectly by reinventing nowadays slippers. Actually, they already felt this new attitude a year ago, but as movements come to life slowly they are now gaining ground amongst consumers.
MAHABIS is a slipper and a shoe, or just a shoe and even just a slipper. This London base brand took a comfortable summer shoe and a cozy winter slipper as starting point. All products are simple, functional, but strive for a simple universal aesthetic.
Actually this brand does not need a lot of explanation and that is exactly how they like it, they wanted to create a product that “no longer needs the complexity of explanation”. The slippers are made in Portugal, with an italian sole. the european mindset carries the very heart of the brand, both in terms of heritage, style and functionality.
“we pride ourselves on innovation. searching for perfection in the everyday.”
In a world where people seek for comfort, convenience and time-saving solutions, we should have as little as possible single function products. MAHABIS understood this consumer need perfectly by combining to regular used products in daily life and combining them together to re-invent their dual function. Secondly by combining products we need less, and that of course, fits our current sustainable focus and resource shortages without a doubt.
SIMPLICITY | FUNCTIONALITY | BEAUTY
I believe our development focus should be more like MAHABIS as these kind of innovations are valuable on both human point of view as environmental point of view as well.
